Richard Harrison & Chris Oakland
Founder and owner of Smile Radio, Richard has loved music all his life. He has always admired DJ's and presenters, and wanted to be able to combine his love for radio with giving unsigned artists the chance to be heard by thousands of people.
Richard's ambition is to become the next John Peel – a bold statement indeed.
Having been friends since they were boys Richard and Chris decided to start their own show, Rich 'n' a Lil Bit of Chris – which you can listen to every Friday from 4pm.
They started out at 5 Towns Radio in Castleford, but soon realised their desire to present and produce their own show on Richard's very-own radio station.

Ritchie Johnston
Ritchie J is Smile Radio’s new submissions manager and presents shows such as The Ritchie J Show, New Music Wednesday, Renegade Rock Hours and The Gameboyz.
He has been with Smile since the very beginning and is a man of many talents, with an array of movie and pop culture knowledge.
Currently Ritchie is taking a leave of absence from the radio waves to work on some important stuff in the background – but fear not, he’ll be returning soon!
When he isn’t hard at work with Smile, Ritchie is a writer/animator and has contributed to projects such as The Guardian and Norfolk P.I, as well as The Last Day. He is currently working on his first animation series, The Gameboyz, so keep your eyes peeled…

Nathan Downes
Nathan has been DJ-ing since he was just seven years old, helping his father, Terry Hill, at various venues.
In 2017 Nathan started his radio show on a local radio station but soon left to join Smile Radio from its inception.
Nathan’s approach is very unique – he plans absolutely nothing, meaning everything is off the cuff and totally unscripted. It's quite apt then, that his trademark saying is 'What could possibly go wrong?'
You can join Nathan on Saturday mornings from 11am – it’s only an hour but it’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face!

Kevin Chippendale – Chipp Ahoy
Kevin has a new edition of his Chipp Ahoy show every Friday from 1.30pm live on Smile Radio – playing the best eclectic mix of the ages, exclusive to Smile!
From world music to the most recent chart hits, you can request a song and Kevin will do his best to play it. If you have a story relating to your choice – even better, we can share that with the listeners as well. Kevin tells stories collected over his many (many) years listening to and playing music.
He has also recently launched a brand-new show on a Wednesday (from 10am), where he plays the best music from the 1970's – from Glam Rock, through Reggae and Disco to Punk Rock.
There are occasional themed shows, and Kevin is always open to suggestions for themes and requests. There will be stories to go with a lot of his choices, because it was Kevin's formative decade musically and he was living in London, so there are lots of experiences to share. If you have any stories, particularly gigs you saw, from the decade then let Kevin know and he'll include them.

Peter Coleman - The After Eight Show
The eclectic mix of music that you will hear on The After Eight Show reflects Peter’s own tastes. Typically, in a single show, you’ll hear some Alternative Indie, Electro Pop, RNB, Jazz, Blues, Electronic, World and acoustic folk-inspired tracks.

Peter is old enough to have been a devotee of the great John Peel in the late sixties so, like his radio hero, he concentrates on playing new music by unsigned artists and bands and by those starting out on their careers and building their fanbases. They are the kinds of musicians who you are likely to see on Jools’s Later TV programme in the next series (or maybe one or two series after that).

Every week, Peter invites music submissions to the show’s Twitter and Facebook pages and, by email, to its own website. A proportion of the music on The After Eight Show is chosen by Peter’s son, Mark, and they guarantee that, between them, they will listen to everything that is sent in and play any track that they like.

As well as on Smile Radio, the show goes out on other stations in the UK, US and Canada and it has over nine thousand Twitter followers. As a result, it now receives a large number of music submissions every week many of which are extremely creative, innovative and interesting but they often fail to get airplay on other radio stations which limit themselves to established artists. This is why Peter devotes so much time selecting and researching the music for each show and it’s what makes this show almost unique.

So, tune in to an episode of The After Eight Show on a Tuesday night 8pm GMT
and see if Peter can achieve his stated ambition of, every week, introducing you to 3, 4 or 5 artists or bands whose names you didn’t know at the start of his show but whose music you will want to go away and explore after it's finished.
